Wrapped Trees – In late November 1998, Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped 178 trees located in Berower Park around the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel.

Subject to ephemerality, the wrapped trees appeared like architecture – they became sculptures – concealed monuments of trees.

The landscapes in Ferdinand Hodler’s late works have always fascinated me. Their endless expanse into nothingness is painted eternity. In series and variations, he bestowed the beauty of the Swiss mountains and Lake Geneva on his major landscape paintings – they are self-images of Switzerland – expressions of modernism.
